Michael Moore wrote this list after the election:17 Reasons Not To Slit Your Wrists . Although I'm also not happy with the election results, I must point out these inaccuracies:

2. Bush's victory was the NARROWEST win for a sitting president since Woodrow Wilson in 1916.

FACT: Bush didn't get many electoral votes. But he got 51% of the popular votes, more than Clinton (49%) and Gore (48%). Now where are those liberals who want the election to be based on the popular votes?

5. The Republicans will not have a filibuster-proof 60-seat majority in the Senate.

FACT: Sure, but getting a 55 seat majority is still alarming. And the Democrats lost seats in both Senate and House. I don't know why Mr. Moore is so cheerful, but you don't have to be a mathematician to interpret from these numbers that the Dems lost badly:
Congress 2002 vs. 2004

House 2002
Republicans: 226
Democrats: 204
Independents: 1
Undecided: 4

Senate 2002
Republicans: 51
Democrats: 46
Independents: 1
Undecided: 2

House 2004
Republicans: 231
Democrats: 200
Independents: 1

Senate 2004
Republicans: 55
Democrats: 44
Independents: 1

17. Finally and most importantly, over 55 million Americans voted for the candidate dubbed "The #1 Liberal in the Senate." That's more than the total number of voters who voted for either Reagan, Bush I, Clinton or Gore. Again, more people voted for Kerry than Reagan.

FACT: Mr. Moore forgot to mention that 59 million people voted for Bush this year. This is the biggest number of votes that any president had ever received. The second largest number of winning votes went to Reagan in 1984 (54 million). While only 47 million voted Clinton in 1996, and 50 million voted for Gore in 2000.

Bush won the this year's election fair and square. Even if you don't believe in the electoral college system, the popular votes say it all. Saying that Bush didn't deserve his second term would be akin to saying that John Kerry didn't deserve his Purple Hearts.
Instead of coming up with excuses, the Democrats need to accept the fact that they have lost touch with the majority of Americans. (and majority means 51%)

Poor Ashlee... first lip-syncer, now bulimic too?

Ashlee Simpson, Acid Reflux Sufferer (defamer.com)

As Ashlee Simpson is savaged by her fans on her own website (sample reaction: "your [sic] a talentless spoiled brat that only got where she is because of who her sister is."), dad Joe Simpson is engaging in some serious damage control before the entire TRL nation burns her in effigy. He jumped on the meal ticket-threatening landmine as he explained to credibility repair specialist Ryan Seacrest exactly why she needed to lip-sync:

He said it was his decision to use the tapes when it became apparent that acid reflux disease had swollen Ashlee's vocal chords. After consulting Wayne Newton's doctor, she received a cortisone shot to get her ready for the "Radio Music Awards," he said.

Well, that settles that. Ashlee's a helpless victim of a larynx-paralyzing medical condition, not a talentless MTV creation. We shouldn't be mocking her misfortune, we should be organizing a telethon!
